Community
Involvement
Barb Warden, the owner, is very involved in
the community. She is a 1995 graduate of the
Leadership Golden program. She served on the
steering committee for two years after finishing the
class, and is a Past President of the
Leadership Golden Alumni Association (which provides
on-going funding to keep the program tuition-free).
She has been active with the Jeffco schools for many
years, having been a classroom volunteer, serving as the
Accountability Chair for Shelton elementary, running the
school carnival, and maintaining the school's web site
for four years. At the district level, she served
for three years on the strategic plan advisory
committee.
Barb is an honorary member of the Golden Rotary
Club. She writes the club's monthly page for the
Sentinel and Transcript newspapers, won District 5450's gold award for best club web
site, and was named "Rotarian of the Year" in
2006!
She built GOLDENTODAY.COM
in 2007 and maintains it on a daily basis. The
site is designed to encourage community awareness and
cohesion and to promote the Golden business and cultural
communities.
Tom Raffey works on Habitat for Humanity
projects and has been a volunteer coach for a fencing
team for many years. Tracy Evanko has a long
list of community service activities. She has been
an active participant in PTSA for fifteen years,
including a term as President. She has served as
the newsletter editor for the elementary, middle, and
high schools. She was one of the founding members
of G.R.E.A.T., which presents free movies in the park
every summer in Golden.
